Amputation Foundation

The Mission • Revamp the website into a national hub for amputees.

Amputation Foundation is a North West charity devoted to empowering amputees. Since 2017, they have devoted considerable time and resources to providing vital support for amputees, including workshops, events, and guidance.

What makes Amputation Foundation special is its deeply personal approach. Founded by two amputees, the organisation channels their firsthand experiences into its services. With a comprehensive understanding of the amputee experience – including emotional, personal, and legal aspects – the founders cultivate a supportive community for those in need.

In order to achieve their vital mission, they needed to enhance their visibility. Strengthening their online presence became a priority, specifically through launching a new website designed to serve as a national hub for amputees.

Highlight • "The main aim of our fully bespoke new website was simplicity."

The Problem

Their previous website was packed with essential information, yet it was obscured by a cluttered design with a lot of extraneous pages. Access to crucial support was being lost in a sea of noise.

So that became their goal: to revitalise their website with a streamlined focus. In other words, trim the fat, elevate the good stuff, and become the strongest support network for amputees in the UK.

Due to our longstanding support of charities, Amputation Foundation entrusted us with developing their new website. We were eager to take on this project, aware that the updated website would enhance the support available to amputees and empower them to succeed.

Web Design

The main aim of our fully bespoke new website was simplicity. Culling unnecessary pages and streamlining the remaining ones was our biggest priority.

During this process, we made sure not to omit any essential information. We thoroughly reviewed each page of the original site and preserved its fundamental elements – such as their story, the support services they provide, how to get involved, event information, donation options, and contact details – to ensure all important content was retained.

This focus on simplicity fed into the visual design, which used the same branding elements as the original website. The logo was carried over, along with the distinctive black, green, and white colour palette. While these elements were modernised, the same recognisable branding was preserved.

In line with the organisation’s personal nature, they wanted to better highlight their team on the website. We introduced a new ‘Our Team’ section that features profiles of each member, organised by their roles within the organisation. For a charity, it’s particularly beneficial for supporters to know who is behind the brand, especially since the organisation is staffed by individuals who embody the cause it supports.

To further enhance their credibility, we added a Google Review link in the site’s footer, visible on every page. This encourages visitors to provide feedback, which in turn strengthens their Google MyBusiness profile and benefits the organisation overall.

The second aim was to make it as easy as possible for visitors to donate. Amputation Foundation does incredible work, but as a charity, it relies on the generosity of its donors to provide its services. We added a simple donation form on the homepage, then scattered CTAs that link to it throughout the site. No matter where visitors find themselves on the site, the option to donate is always easily accessible.

Finally, one of the key resources offered by the Amputation Foundation is its vibrant calendar of inclusive amputee-friendly events. These are vital for mitigating the significant challenges of limb loss and fostering a sense of community and connection.

To enhance accessibility on their new website, we developed a dedicated Events page that incorporates the Amelia booking plugin on Elementor. This setup simplifies the process of viewing the event schedule, provides essential details about each event, and allows visitors to make a booking in just a few clicks.

Amputation Foundation now has a simplified and streamlined online hub, enabling them to better support and empower amputees nationwide.
