Mama Sood’s is an exciting new chutney brand, as well as a proud member of the Sood family.
Built from a desire to make chutneys cool again, we helped Mama Sood launch the brand in 2023. Consisting of unconventional taste sensations such as tomato & pineapple, as well as trusted favourites like chilli, the Mama Sood’s range is as eclectic as it is tasty, and we couldn’t be prouder to have helped bring it to life.
The aim of the brand is to prove that chutneys aren’t just poppadom passengers, and to showcase their versatility in enhancing pretty much any recipe. As the tagline says, “dip it, spread it, cook with it”.

The Problem
In rolling out Mama Sood’s to the public, the impact of branding was paramount. While the products are undoubtedly taste sensations, the challenge was to create branding visually captivating enough for people to try them.
Our team at Sood began working to establish perfect branding with which to adorn these lovely little jars, that expressed the vibrancy of their flavours at first glance.
The Solution
Branding
The groundwork was already done, in the form of the existing branding we created for the website launch. The colour palette, typography, and logo wonderfully captured the brand’s vibrancy, deeply rooted in rich culture and delectable flavours. Adapting this to the label design for the jars was a breeze.
It was crucial to maintain a cohesive design across all flavours, so each variation is subtle. The standout element is the colour: each chutney’s hue mirrors its flavour profile, like the tropical yellow found on the Tomato & Pineapple label, or the fiery red emblazoned on the Chilli. Each jar is a distinct and recognisable representation of its flavour, yet they all clearly belong to the same brand family.
Once the design was finalised, we proceeded with a trial batch of labels, ensuring they translated just as beautifully in reality as on screen and fit the jars flawlessly. Thankfully, they did! It may seem simple, but without these labels, the products couldn’t be sold at all. But now, the hungry public have been able to get their hands on Mama’s unique chutneys for themselves, and branding has become a fundamental part of their kitchen scene.
The Conclusion
After our talented branding team adapted the Mama Sood’s branding onto various labels, production and sale of Mama Sood’s could really kick off! Now, it’s quickly becoming a cult favourite among foodie circles. Have you tried some yet?
